—- ARCHIVE Guidelines for 2011 —-

Matt Mancini of Phoenix Arizona formed the first Advanced Technology Networking Group (ATNG) in September of 2010. Shortly after he brought on 7 foundation members who have helped with the design and guidelines for the group.  The foundation members and Matt met three times in 2010 to finalize their ideas for the group. They turned those ideas into the group guidelines and founded the first ATNG.

Below are the 2011 Guidelines for the Phoenix ATNG

About the group

  • KISS&T – Keep it Simple Stupid & Technical!
  • Meet once every other month or there about
  • A meeting usually lasts from 3PM till 5PM or later
  • Attendance is for members only or guest are welcome by invite only
  • Members are chosen and elected to become part of the group (See Membership Below)
  • Topic and presentations are technical in nature (No marketing, No Sales)
  • A vendor might present, however it would be by our invite only and a topic we choose
  • This is not a “Sales Lead group”.  This is a technical group which promotes peer to peer collaboration

Membership

  • We are looking for the right type of person to be in the group
  • Potential members should be technical in nature
  • Becoming a member is a commitment, remember we are looking for technical minded persons who want to meet often and “give back” to the group.
  • We look for members with a core competency in Virtualization, Storage, Networking, and other IT related areas.
  • Based on those core competencies we will choose balance of members.  The guideline for group membership will comprise of 50% Virtualization, ~15% Storage, ~15% Networking, ~20% other
  • Attendance is by invite only and a Member might ask you to attend a possible candidate
  • ANY person is welcome to apply for membership (it doesn’t matter who you work for).  Simply start by sending an email to membership@atngroups.com (current members should be in the Phoenix AZ Metro Area)
  • Potential members will go through an on-boarding process, which might include an application, meet / greet existing members, and possible presentations
  • Members are asked to make meetings and not miss more the 2 a year.  However its all about being responsible, if you can’t make a meeting for a good reason then just let us know.
  • Membership will be limited to 75 full members.  Of these members the end users should be the majority  (60/40)over vendors / other.
  • Full members are allowed to bring a guest at any time.
  • Meeting MAX capacity should be no more than 150 (75 Members/75 Guests)
  • If a member steps down or leaves the group they’ll need to go through the on boarding process to return
  • If a member isn’t working out -
    • Concerns will be addressed to the foundations members
    • The Foundation members will discuss the issue and come to a resolution
    • The Foundations members will ask the member who introduced the person to the group to address concerns
    • If the concerns are not resolved then the member who introduced the person will be ask the person to step down from the group
    • The foundation members are also able to ask anyone to step down if necessary

Goals for Phoenix ATNG 2011…

Potentially grow the group to 20 members and by year’s end reevaluate the group
Start to have regular technical meetings and work out the bugs over our first year
